As electric vehicles and battery-powered technology become part of everyday life, understanding how to manage battery fire risk has never been more important. That’s why we’ve launched EV Fires 101 — a weekly social media series supported by the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (NSW DCCEEW).
Each Wednesday, we’ll share quick, practical insights designed to build confidence and cut through confusion around electric vehicle (EV) and lithium-ion battery fires. Whether you’re a driver, fleet operator, emergency responder, or just EV-curious, these bite-sized posts will help you stay informed and ready.
Through EV Fires 101, for the rest of 2025 and right through 2026, we’ll talk about:
EV fires — fact and fiction: Understanding what really happens, and how rare these incidents actually are
EV charging safety: How to charge smarter at home, at work, and on the road
Global incident data: What the latest research tells us about EV and battery fire behaviour
Resources and courses: Where to learn more through EV FireSafe’s training and evidence-based tools
Our goal is simple — to drive sensible, informed discussion about battery safety as the world electrifies. Because the more we understand how these systems work, the safer our transition to cleaner transport will be.
Follow the conversation every Wednesday morning across Facebook and LinkedIn, and join us in powering knowledge - not fear - about EV fires.
