02. Welcome to EV FireSafe

Why EV FireSafe?

Electrified vehicles are a vital part of our transport future.

The energy dense lithium ion batteries supplying power to new generation EVs are very safe, however on the occasions an emergency incident occurs, it presents a different challenge to all involved. Those challenges are not yet well understood.

Quoting our research? Here's how you credit us...

Defence, as one of many sectors decarbonising their fleet, kindly provided seed funding that has enabled our team to dedicate time & energy into investigating risks & possible mitigations.

Our aim is to provide background information, facts & statistics to help keep Australian emergency responders (& everyone) safer around electric vehicle fires.

What is EV FireSafe?

EV FireSafe is a private company that received seed funding from the Australian Department of Defence to research electric vehicle high voltage battery fires & emergency response, particularly where the EV is connected to energised charging.

Emergency agencies & responders are welcome to join our free monthly webinars hosted by the Country Fire Authority D14 IMT, where our research & knowledge is presented & opened for questions.

EV FireSafe provides tailored presentations & consultation for government & private sector organisations. Please contact emma@evfiresafe.com to discuss the scope of your project & how we can help.

What's in this online hub & how do I use it?

The EV FireSafe team researched & analysed electric vehicle fires to create a database of incidents. This website is high level look at that work, fully sourced & peer reviewed. We're also active on Instagram, Facebook & LinkedIn.

This site is designed to move you step by step through important information. Click on the link at the bottom of each page or navigate using the top menu.
